The history of Christ University in Bangalore is a testament to its enduring legacy and its commitment to providing quality education to generations of students. Founded in 1969 by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Catholic religious order, Christ University began its journey as an autonomous college affiliated to the Bangalore University. It started with humble beginnings, offering undergraduate programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce.

As the years went by, Christ College continued to evolve and expand its academic offerings to meet the changing needs of society. In 1990, it was granted deemed-to-be-university status by the University Grants Commission (UGC), marking a significant milestone in its journey. With this recognition, Christ College transformed into Christ University, becoming the first institution in Karnataka to be accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A+ grade.

 

With its newfound university status, Christ University expanded its academic programs to encompass a wide array of disciplines, including Management, Law, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Commerce, and Engineering.
